These sensors are used to follow lines in autonomous vehicles. They are based on TCRT5000 sensors. They are reflective sensors which include an infrared emitter and phototransistor in a leaded package which blocks visible light. Each unit consists of 5 sensors for increased accuracy.
The module is great for detecting edges,line following, and for close range obstacle detection in conjunction with ultrasonic sensors.
It works such that the stronger the infrared reflection (white), the larger the output, the weaker the infrared radiation (black), the smaller the output.
Compared with other track sensors that can only output high and low levels, the 5-channel analog output of this product can feedback the distance of the black line, and the feedback is more accurate.
The module is based on the trct 5000 infrared reflection sensor, it is often used to make tracking smart cars.
